To Convince Portugal To Poland
26th January 2005, Rzeczpospolita
In Lisbon 100 Polish businessmen and experts will encourage 300 Portuguese businessmen to do business in Poland. It will be during the next seminar whose objective is advertising our country in the EU. "The Portuguese companies want to invest in Poland. I will encourage them to do it," Luis Pereira Coutinho, the vice-chairman of Bank Millennium, told the journalists.
According to him, a big advantage to investing in our country is twofold higher rate of growth than the average in the euro zone. This indicator should maintain in Poland at this high level for the next years. Besides, the competition in our country is lower than in the states of the former EU. The construction companies investing in the facilities projects and infrastructure are interested in Poland.
So far the Portuguese companies have spent 423 million dollars on their investment in Poland. This means that this country is in the 20th standing among the largest investors in Poland. "Recently we have been receiving a lot of enquiries from the Embassy of Portugal in Warsaw. And it happens although we hardly advertise our country there," says Sebastian Mikosz of Polska Agencja Informacji i Inwestycji Zagranicznych (Polish Agency of Information and Foreign Investments).
The meeting in Lisbon will be held on March 3. It will be the third seminar on advantages of our country. The last ones were arranged in Brussels and Frankfurt. Roadshow Polska, Rada M³odego Biznesu and Konfederacja Pracodawców Polskich (they are business organisations) are organizers of the series of the events.
