It is now time for Portugal

Looking for the foreign investors, you have to establish contact - it is a goal of the outdoor conference, Roadshow.

On March 3 in Cascais near Lisbon a meeting of Poland and Portugal, "Perspektywy Rozwoju Biznesu" (Prospects of Business Growth) will be held. It is the third conference advertising Poland in the EU states (the first two were held in Brussels and Frankfurt/Mennen). Konfederacja Pracodawców Polskich (Confederation of Polish Employers) and Rada Młodego Biznesu (Young Business Council) organise Roadshow Polska.

"A priority of the coming event is mainly to establish a new platform for business contact between these two countries," explains Eva Krisztina Aboo, the manager of the project, Roadshow. The main partners of this project are Bank Millennium and Millennium BCP, the top private bank in Portugal.

The key issues, which will be discussed at the conference, are the investment opportunities in the financial, public sectors as well as construction, tourist, real estate and trade industries. The representatives of the European Union, business-related organisations and the entrepreneurs themselves will try to answer the question what can be done to develop the economic exchange between Poland and Portugal.

"Despite the popular opinion, the overseas companies hardly know about Poland as an attractive market to the investors. The other state members have already advertised their countries across Europe, and Polska Agencja Informacji i Inwestycji Zagranicznych (Polish Agency of Information and Foreign Investments) can hardly do anything owing to numerous statutory and financial restrictions. The initiative of Roadshow will allow us to show the others what we can offer in the business platform," says Richard Mbewe, the chief specialist of Warszawska Grupa Inwestycyjna (Warsaw Investment Group).

The Portuguese enterprises have invested over 420 million American dollars in Poland so far, and PAIIZ receives the inquiries from Commercial Counsellor of Embassy of Portugal concerning the opportunities to establish trade co-operation.

"The Portuguese enterprises have to do it. In the nearest Spanish market there is a very tough competition, and therefore the countries of Central Europe are becoming the strategic goal, and Poland is the most interesting place. The Initiative of Roadshow has only to make them aware of the fact that it is worth doing business here", thinks Joao Rodrigues, the chairman of Martifer Polska.
